2024 Grand Challenges Hackathon

Brought to you by Venture and Enactus, sponsored by UWA Grand Challenges and Campus Management. Students are presented with a range of SDG aligned challenges to ideate a solution designed to meet that challenge.

Open to all UWA students! You’ll be given hands-on opportunity to address the some of world’s biggest problems, particularly focusing on the following question:

• Climate change and social inequality are some of the greatest challenges of our time. How can we address these issues? (Your project can address one or both issues).

Key Dates: 

Kick off 4:00PM Thursday 26th September 

Hack away over the weekend

Pitch Night 6:00PM Monday 30th September

What to expect: 

• Join with friends as a team or as an individual and be paired with a group 
• After a brief kick-off session, you will be given 48 hours to come up with a slide deck and a poster demonstrating how you would design a profit or not-for-profit business that can contribute to solving the issues described above.
• You will be supported by specially selected mentors from our world-class industry partners to help guide you through your creative process.
• Resources will be available to prepare you for pitch night.

• Last but definitely not least, there will be $1000 for 1st prize and $500 for second prize.

Particpants will be supported by mentors and prizes are available for first and second place! Plus Campus management will work with the most implementable project to see if it is viable to deliver the project on Campus.

Hackathon posters will be displayed as part of the Contemoraty Issues in PRIME Annuale Lecture 2024: Climate Change and Gender Equity on Tuesday 1st October 2024.
